Odoo n8n automation connects Odoo to the tools your team already uses, such as Gmail, Outlook, Google Calendar and Google Sheets, so repetitive work runs on its own.
AI handles the reading and sorting, Odoo stays the single source of truth, and people approve what matters.
Most businesses already keep customers, projects, sales and timesheets in Odoo.
The hours go into the work around it: reading emails, copying details between systems, updating spreadsheets and writing the same reports every month.
Below are five Odoo automation workflows we have built or designed with n8n, what each one does, and how it helps the team that uses it.
What is n8n, and why use it with Odoo?
n8n is a visual workflow automation platform. It links apps through ready-made building blocks called nodes, so you can connect Odoo to email, calendars, spreadsheets and AI models without building every integration from scratch.
- Ready-made Odoo connection. n8n has nodes for Odoo, Gmail, Outlook, Google Calendar, Google Sheets, Slack, OpenAI and Google Gemini. Connecting a system means configuring a node, not writing and re-testing code.
- Custom connections when needed. If an app has no node, or the node lacks a feature, n8n calls the app’s API directly inside the same workflow.
- Faster to build and change. The whole flow sits on one visual canvas, so it is quicker to deliver and easier to adjust as your process changes, without redeveloping Odoo.
5 Odoo Automation Workflows built with n8n
| Workflow | What it automates | Best for |
| AI Sales Assistant | Sales emails to Odoo CRM, meetings and quotations | Sales teams with busy inboxes |
| AI Recruitment Assistant | CV screening and interview booking | HR teams hiring at volume |
| Odoo to CompanyCam Project Sync | Field projects created automatically | Field service and installation teams |
| Monthly Customer Update Drafts | Monthly project reports from Odoo timesheets | Project-based service teams |
| Odoo to Google Sheets Order Tracking | A live production sheet for dealers | Manufacturers selling through dealers |
1. Odoo AI Sales Assistant: from inbox to Odoo CRM
Sales inboxes mix real enquiries with follow-ups, meeting requests and promotional noise. Someone has to read every email, update the CRM and reply.
How it works
- Reads and summarizes each sales email with its earlier thread, then decides whether it is a real lead. Non-leads get a polite reply and the admin is informed.
- Creates or updates the lead and contact in Odoo CRM and moves the opportunity to the right stage.
- Replies as a RAG AI agent, checking the company’s website and product information before it answers.
- Books meetings in the salesperson’s calendar, emails quotations created in Odoo, or hands the conversation to the right salesperson.
Benefits:
- Faster replies even outside office hours
- A clean CRM where every deal sits in the right stage
- Answers grounded in your own product
- Salespeople who step in only where a human touch matters, with the full history in front of them.
2. AI Recruitment Assistant in Odoo: CV screening and interview scheduling
Every opening brings a pile of CVs. Reading them, matching them to the role and booking interviews takes hours each week.
How it works
- Picks up each CV from email as it arrives, including PDF files.
- Uses AI to score the candidate’s skills and experience against the job description.
- Books strong matches into a free HR calendar slot and sends an online meeting invite.
- Sends weaker matches a polite, professional rejection email.
Benefits:
- The first screening round runs on its own
- Every CV is judged against the same criteria
- Every applicant gets a quick answer
- Nobody chases interview times by email.
3. Odoo to CompanyCam Project Sync
A signage company managed projects in Odoo while its field teams documented sites in CompanyCam, a photo documentation app. Every project was entered twice.
How it works
- Runs whenever a new project is created in Odoo.
- Creates the matching CompanyCam project with the customer, address and project details.
- Connects through a custom integration built directly on CompanyCam’s API.
- Saves the CompanyCam link on the Odoo project, so site photos open in one click.
Benefits:
- No double entry
- Field teams ready the moment a job is set up
- Site photos one click away from Odoo
- No dependency on third-party connectors
4. Monthly customer update drafts from Odoo Timesheets
Monthly customer updates mean pulling hours, team members and task status from timesheets for every project. By hand, it is slow and easy to get wrong. We built this one for our own account managers.
How it works
- An account manager selects one or many projects in Odoo and clicks one button, visible only to account managers.
- The workflow collects last month’s timesheets, tasks and team hours.
- It writes an update email per project in the format that matches the contract (support pack or time-and-material) and attaches a standard document.
- Each email lands as a draft in the account manager’s Outlook. Nothing goes out until they review and send it.
Benefits:
- Hours saved every month
- Consistent reports built on real Odoo data
- A person checking every email before it reaches a customer
- Settings (such as which task stages to show) that change without touching code.
5. Automated Order Tracking: Odoo to Google Sheets
This workflow is designed for a furniture manufacturer that tracks weekly production in a Google Sheet shared with its dealers. Keeping that sheet current by hand is slow and error-prone.
How it works
- Adds each confirmed Odoo order to the right delivery week, sorted by urgency and product priority.
- Updates the row and highlights what changed when an order is edited.
- Removes cancelled orders from the weekly list.
- Adds the tracking number once delivery is validated, so dealers can see it.
- Uses direct Google Sheets API calls for row highlighting, which the standard node cannot do.
Is Odoo n8n Automation right for your business?
If your team spends hours moving data between Odoo and other tools, the answer is likely yes.
Already on Odoo? Look for these signs:
- Someone reads emails or documents and retypes the details into Odoo.
- The same report is rebuilt from Odoo data every month.
- One record has to be created in two systems.
- Customers or dealers ask for status updates you already have in Odoo.
Evaluating Odoo?
Odoo connects openly. With n8n’s ready-made Odoo node and direct API access, your email, calendars, spreadsheets and AI tools work around Odoo instead of in separate silos. That makes it easier to automate as you grow.
Frequently asked questions
Can n8n connect to Odoo?
Yes. n8n has a ready-made Odoo node, and it can call Odoo’s API directly for anything the node does not cover.
How do I automate Odoo without heavy custom development?
Use a workflow automation tool like n8n. It connects Odoo to email, calendars, spreadsheets and AI through configurable nodes, so most of the work is setup rather than code.
Can AI update Odoo CRM from incoming emails?
Yes. An AI sales assistant can read each email, decide whether it is a lead, create or update the lead and contact in Odoo CRM, and move the opportunity to the right stage.
Will automation send emails without anyone checking?
Only where you choose. Workflows can save drafts for review, as the monthly report workflow does, or hand a conversation to a person when a decision matters.
Which apps can n8n connect with Odoo?
Gmail, Outlook, Google Calendar, Google Meet, Google Sheets, Slack, CompanyCam, and AI models such as OpenAI and Google Gemini. Apps without a ready-made node can be connected through their API.
Every workflow here began with one question: which repetitive task is taking up our team’s time?
Connect Odoo with email, calendars, spreadsheets and AI, and that routine work runs on its own while your people focus on customers, candidates and decisions.
