Odoo Sales App Simplifying Pricing for B2B and B2C Customers

Managing prices for B2B and B2C customers can be a challenging task, especially when you have to deal with different tax rates and pricing strategies. Fortunately, with the help of the Odoo Sales app, you can easily manage your pricing separately for B2B and B2C sales.

In addition, Odoo provides a powerful reporting tool that allows you to analyze your sales data and customer behavior. You can generate reports that show sales by customer type, product category, and other criteria. This can help you to identify trends and make informed decisions about your pricing strategy.

In this blog post, we will discuss how to manage prices for B2B Sales Tax (tax excluded) and B2C Sales Tax (tax included) in Odoo.

Manage prices for B2B (tax excluded) and B2C (tax included) in Odoo Sales

If you deal directly with customers (e.g., in most retail eCommerce stores), you have your prices tax included, but it is not the same case if you decide to operate in the wholesale or B2B market, as companies usually negotiate prices with tax excluded.

In Odoo Sales app, you can easily set up different price lists for B2B and B2C customers and then set up different pricing rules for each price list.

Odoo also allows you to set up different payment terms for B2B and B2C customers. For example, you can offer B2B customers payment terms such as net-30, net-60, or net-90, while B2C customers can pay upfront using credit cards or other payment methods.

You can register your prices on the product with taxes excluded or included, but not both together. If you manage all your prices with tax included (or excluded) only, you can do sales with a price having taxes excluded (or included).

So, in this blog, you will get to know how to handle the two prices (tax excluded and included) on the product form within the same company without having to customize it.

Manage both B2B and B2C pricing in Odoo Sales

In order to negotiate some prices with tax excluded and, for the rest other customers, prices with tax included, you must:

  • set the default price tax excluded on the product form, and apply a tax (price excluded on the product form)
  • create a separate pricelist with prices in tax included for specific customers
  • create a fiscal position that switches the tax excluded to a tax included
  • assign both the pricelist and the fiscal position to customers who want to benefit from this pricelist and fiscal position.

Manage B2B or B2C pricing in Odoo Sales

If you only use B2C or B2B prices on your website, here’s what you need to do:

  • Activate the developer mode and go to General Settings ‣ Users & Companies ‣
  • Open either Technical / Tax display B2B or Technical / Tax display B2C.
  • Under the Users tab, add the B2C users in the B2C pricing group and the B2B users in the B2B pricing group.

The best and out-of-the-box way is to choose only one way of managing your prices and stick to it: price inclusive of taxes or price tax excluded. Define which one is the default stored on the product form (on the default tax related to the product), and let Odoo compute the other one automatically, based on the price list and fiscal position.
