Wilkes Woodworking is a fast-growing manufacturer specializing in custom and semi-custom over-the-range kitchen hoods. Each hood is individually built to customer specifications, style, size, finish, and detailing, making craftsmanship, precision, and configurability central to their business. 

Since 2019, the company has scaled rapidly, now producing over 100–125 hoods each week. As volumes increased, Wilkes Woodworking recognized the need for a robust digital backbone to manage configurability, order accuracy, production scheduling, and cost visibility across their operations.

Wilkes Woodworking approached Aktiv initially for Odoo CPQ, seeking a better way to configure highly customizable hood designs. After evaluating their broader challenges, order tracking, manual data entry, invoicing delays, and production visibility, they decided to partner with Aktiv to take their Odoo 18 SH implementation to the next level. 

While Odoo’s starter services helped establish basic functionality, Wilkes needed a deeper, manufacturing-focused approach to align Odoo with their real operations.  

They chose Aktiv for its expertise in CPQ, manufacturing, and multi-stage production flows, ensuring the system evolves into a central platform that supports both current needs and future scalability.

  • Orders entered manually twice (once in Hoodsly’s system HUB, and again into a Google Sheet before re-entering in Odoo)
  • No unified production tracking or dashboard for scheduling workloads
  • Difficulty handling RUSH or EMERGENCY orders within their workflow
  • Lack of Shop Floor, Manufacturing, and Quality modules to support real production flow
  • No systematic way to track the status of each hood through its build cycle
  • Invoicing delays due to manual marking of “built” and “shipped” orders
  • Limited visibility into material consumption, labor time, and per-hood production costing
  • Need for strategic guidance on future Odoo modules like Accounting, HR, and Timesheets

These limitations caused bottlenecks, manual overhead, and reduced operational clarity as the business continued to scale.
